To explain it I am using a flash counter from 99 counters. You can get your own from here. You can play with it, customize it etc. You need to register to make your counter.
After creating your counter you will be given a code which must be like this
You will find the swf link and your counter id. like this
Copy your counter id and past it in the following code.
[sourcecode]gigya src="http://static.99widgets.com/counters/swf/counters.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" width="175" height="300" flashvars="id=youridwillcomehere"[/sourcecode]Caution: Please make sure you put "[" before gigya which is the start of code and "]" after id=youridwillcomehere.
Now Add text widget in the side bar or where ever you want to put your flash counter. Named it whatever you want. Post the the above codes in it. Make sure you have replace the id with your own. It will look like this
Press save and here you go.
